he was emptying his work trailer of the remnants his working life the day he sold his bobcat. driving bobcat was primarily his life’s work.
she was emptying the summer cabin come ‘home to retire to’ to make space for renters after they decided to move back closer to home. she was also one day removed from losing her older sister to a brief but painful fight against lung cancer.
i’ve picked up a few things while i’ve been hiding out here in the fields. watching my parents age, and fight the fights they have left on a daily basis, sneaking the odd photo, helping them transition from who they were to who they are. it’s been an education.
